Of course like any other blogger I too start with Japan. What a crazy and fun experience that was. Japanese people take things very seriously, it’s amazing. But on the other hand also things very lightly, like nothing is serious at all.
When traveling around the country you see many different variations of almost everything. But what really stands out was Tokyo. This massive city which has so many things to offer (read: Sushi places) had one of the weirdest fishing experiences I ever encountered.
Not entirely unimportant, when traveling to far away countries like Japan and staying there for a while, be sure to take a good international health insurance.
For sure when something happens this will be the first thing people will ask about. So don’t underestimate it please.
It cost around Yen 1000 per hour which comes close to a USD 10 per hour. But by the time you read this, it can be different again. Back to the story. You arrive, you pay and pick up your rod and go sit somewhere you find fitted. The moment you sit down you can start. And this is the crazy thing, you fish in a closed area. Meaning actually you will always catch some fish. It’s a unique and fun experience but also very, and I mean very, artificial. It felt like fishing in a large aquarium. Like people who want to live in the city but doesn’t really want to live there, so they create these artificial outdoor experiences which are not real.
Nevertheless, it was very fun to do while trying to communicate with your neighbors. Definitely worth a try, and the money is not a lot.
